I know every one of you has heard about the devastation the Gulf Coast oil spill has caused.  It is truly heartbreaking.  But what lifts my spirits is to see companies use their influence to give back.

nursery in progress.

My mind has been churning the last few weeks with ideas of nursery decor.  I have finally decided on bumpers and a crib.  I have actually had the bumpers bookmarked for a while.  I had planned on choosing them regardless of boy or girl.  I love the pop of color they provide!

Friends, I need your advice.  My 2 1/2 year old daughter Audrey is quickly out growing her crib.  She shares a room with her 8 year old sister + I'm having a tough time deciding the new sleeping arrangements.

Here is my question: 2 twin beds? 1 queen size bed to share? Or perhaps a twin with trundle?  Keep in mind their room is quite small.  I am especially curious to hear from those of you that have experience with children sharing a large bed, or have had children use a trundle bed.

DIY friday: simple toddler bowtie.

Not only does Liz make really awesome pillows, and skirts but she made the sweetest little bowtie for her cute son Hank.  Her easy to follow tutorial will have your little man looking good at your next dress up occasion too.  Oh, and be sure you add Liz's blog to your reader.  I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

I'm currently redecorating my bedroom.  And when I say "currently" I mean I've been doing nothing for the last month.  It started Memorial Day weekend when my dear husband painted the walls.  Since then I have been stuck.  I've been searching high + low for a bold accent pillow for my all white bedding but with little luck.  You can imagine how delighted I was when I popped on over to decor8 and saw Holly's feature on the new-to-me etsy shop Skinny LaMinx.  This pillow drew me in immediately.  The color, the design, the price.  Positively perfect in every way.

bright star.

I know I'm probably the last person to see this film, but I finally took some time last night to watch Bright Star. The movie centers around the secret love affair of John Keats (English poet) and student of fashion, Fanny Brawne.  It was magical.  The costuming had me completely mesmerized.  Especially during those scenes when they were speaking in "poetry language" and I had no idea what they were saying.  There were also quite a few lovely scenes that completely took my breath away.

I'm a big sucker for gingham so it's no surprise this little dress has been on my mind since first laying eyes on it.  Doesn't it look super comfy?  I want to wear it on my picnic date.  Oh, and in case you were wondering, in my dream world I'd pair it with these shoes.

Are you seeing lots of cross accents popping up everywhere, or is it just me?  I'm loving these two pretty pillows and think they would be an easy summer spruce up for the cozy brick house.

keen for kiddos.

I recently bought these Keen Newport H2 sandals for my little Owen.  Every summer the the poor boy ends up with a terrible case of eczema on his feet from running around in the dirt/grass/river without protective/comfortable shoes.

I don't typically fork over $50 for my children's footwear (especially the summer variety) but these have proven to be a wise purchase.  They are easy for him to slip on and off, breathable + they are so well made I'm sure our youngest son Oliver will also get some use from them.

If you aren't familiar with the sweetness that is known as Emersonmade, make yourself cozy because you my friend, are in for a treat.  I first happened upon Emersonmade last fall and haven't been able to get these blooms out of my head since.  Charming, whimsical, and best yet...handmade.  

Just yesterday the UPS man pulled in front of my house with a great big box full of Emersonmade goodies and I won't deny saying that I may have jumped + squealed a bit when I opened the package.  I am a lover of packaging and Emersonmade has taken the cake with their beautiful gold boxes.  The blooms are packaged so thoughtfully.  It's obvious that every possible care was taken in wrapping them up for travel.

Once I had my sweet gold boxes opened I ooh'd and ahh'd over what was inside.  A Little Poppy made from 100% linen stole my heart immediately.   The craftsmanship is impeccable.  The color divine.  This bloom will be getting a lot of use!

Stunning is the one word that came to mind when I opened The Dahlia Sash.  Well, I take that back.  There is another word: Versatile.  This sash is so versatile you could wear it on your wedding day and then pair it with a simple white blouse and jeans for a night out.  How many other accessories can do that?

I am always impressed with Jessica Simpson's shoe line.  The singing and acting, not so much.  But the woman has excellent style when it comes to shoes.  I'm currently in love with these.

picnic basket.

I wasn't intending to purchase a picnic basket when I strolled into Target the other day. Then I saw a pretty green one and had a vision of me and my love enjoying a relaxing meal in the park sans children.

This is the closest option online to the one I purchased in store.  The basket I bought was the same green, had a zipper top and was only $9.99.  You can find it in the garden department.
