paulina carcach & a giveaway!

Even though I am soon to be entering the diaper bag stage, I still can not resist a handbag.  I love them all, from clutches to messenger to totes.  I can be a bit of a snob though.  I will admit that nothing beats a good quality leather, you just can't.

I was super excited when I stumbled upon Paulina Carcach handbags.  It was like hitting jackpot, only maybe even a little better.

"My vision for my label is to create handbags that are both luxurious and wearable, with a beautiful feminine touch. I strive to make my handbags timeless and luxurious, modern but never cold. "

You are bound to find something that suits your style and won't break the bank. Now although the prices range in the $100's, it is well worth the investment.  For me, my mantra is, quality over quantity.  You can choose from a selection of....
messenger bags
shoulder bags
totes
clutches
duffle/travel bags
wallets
accessories
See I told you, something for every style!

The leather is either lambskin or calfskin and is extremely soft.  You can tell right away that great detail and effort goes into the making of each handbag.  Paulina so generously sent me the Alexa Shoulder and Satchel bag to take for a spin.  The size is perfect.  Big enough to put ALL the stuff I must have, while not being huge and bulky.  It has two inside pockets and one zipper style pocket.

You want one too, don't you?  I thought so.  So just drop us a comment telling me your favorite style and why you are in need of a new handbag and you will be entered to win a $75 gift certificate!  The giveaway runs now through Friday morning [9/3].

You can view all the handbags at Paulina Carcach's website.
You can also follow her on twitter and become a fan of hers on facebook.

Good luck!

TOMS.

These beautiful orchid cord classics are all mine.
And I love them.

link love.

My reader was popping with awesomeness last week.  There was so many great things happening, I couldn't keep up with it all.  These are the posts I starred.  The ones I couldn't bear to simply "mark as read." They deserved a little link love.

I've had cross stitch on my mind lately, so of course I was instantly in love with chez sucre chez the second I saw them on Design*Sponge.  There are so many pretty things in the shop, I can't pick a favorite.

I agree with Nicole, I think this sweet new (made to look old) basket deserves a spot in my home.  Now, where to put it?

I can't get the the party Stephanie planned for her sweet little red-head out of my brain.  Have you ever seen anything as cute as those suckers?  Love.

I've been toying with the idea of a toddler bed for my little, and this one from IKEA posted by ohdeedoh has me thinking more seriously.  Sweet + simple.  Just what I'd want.

*emera

Last year for Christmas my dear husband surprised me with a shiny new DSLR.  I love my camera almost as much as I love Izze soda, but... it's kinda big.  And the camera bag it came with is just hideous.  It's like carrying around a diaper bag from the 80's.  Puffy is a good word to describe it.  Having five children, I've got my hands pretty full deeming it completely necessary to find a camera bag that wouldn't embarrass me every time we went into public.

Enter my new best friend, the *emera quilted camera bag.  It's sleek, fashionable and completely loaded with all the right padded compartments.  You wouldn't believe all that I am able to fit in my bag.  Not only all of my necessary camera equipment, but my wallet, iPhone, diaper + wipes also fit with room to spare.  There's even a nice little pocket for your laptop.  Talk about a multi-tasking accessory!  I toted my bag with me this morning while taking my 3 big kids to their first day of school and received not one, not two, but three compliments!  And they were all shocked to find out it was actually a camera bag.

Add this baby to your shopping list for fall must haves.  I 'm pretty certain the *emera quilted bag will be your new favorite bag too.

the weekend.

hello dear friends!
are you ready for the weekend?  I sure am.

We have finally had a break in the triple digits and one morning found us outside, in a light rain, with sidewalk chalk.  Did I mention it stayed in the 70's most of the day?  It was perfect and has me wanting fall to hurry up and arrive.

And I am most definitely ready for some rest & relaxation this weekend.  My five year olds summer basketball is over and my saturdays are a bit freed up.  This pregnancy has been less than kind on me this time around and I am trying to take each day one at a time and enjoy my two wild boys before life changes.

What are you up to this weekend?
Are you going to relax or live it up?

p.s. next tuesday is my 8 year wedding anniversary :)

julian and co.

I might have a slight obsession with keepsake jewelry.  Since I tend to lean toward the simple, I've found that I have quite a few sentimental pieces in my collection.  Now although I have a nice assortment of hand stamped necklaces, I have yet to own the classic locket.  From searching the web, I've found that there is definitely not a shortage of lockets but I have discovered my favorite version.  Curious?

My favorite locket can be found at Julian & Co.  The designs are simple and sleek and can even be personalized.  I happen to have the mama locket.  I love that it is a little bit modern and looks good with my every day uniform [tee shirt and jeans].  But not to worry if you are not a mama or would like something a little bit different.  There is the....

love locket
initial locket
round locket [large & small]
scrawling locket

And maybe you're thinking, I'm not really a locket person.  Fear not,  you can choose from a timeless collection of other pieces for mom, dad and even baby.  And wait, some of the pieces come in gold too!  See,I told you, something for everyone.

always skinny.

Remember last winter when I blogged about my favorite pair of skinny jeans?  Well, they may have a little  competition.  Last week I had a 40% coupon from Gap burning a hole in my pocket.  While browsing the store I took notice of their new Always Skinny jeans.  I tried this style on last year and wasn't impressed.  The sales person told me they've re-vamped the Always Skinny and I couldn't have been happier with the changes.  The back pockets are more flattering, the rise is better, and they are now available in three different length options.  Regular, Long, and Ankle.  I quickly snatched up two pair because of the buy one pair, get the second for $20 and was pleasantly surprised when my 40% coupon was also added into the deal. (Gap doesn't generally combine special offers + coupons) Which means my new jeans were a mere $30 each.  Score!

When I saw this image Rachel posted I instantly thought two things. 1. I want to outfit my children in everything Zara Kids has to offer. And 2. I want to outfit myself in everything Zara Kids has to offer.

I want to grow a patch of these strawberry pillows.

the animal print shop.

I've been searching, searching, searching for art to hang in the nursery.  And when I discovered The Animal Print Shop, it was love at first site.  It is clean, crisp and simple and yet stunning at the same time.  Sharon Montrose photographs live animals, with a majority of them having been rescued by caring individuals.  The pictures do not come framed but not to worry, she has a section with wonderful framing tips.  I am totally swooning over the baby porcupine.  Don't ask me why, but it is my absolute favorite!

8.18.2010

koala kuddles.

Do you need to stock up on swaddling blankets?  I've never personally tried Koala Kuddles before but they look dreamy.  Made out of 100% cotton weave [muslin], they are sure to be super soft, perfect for wrapping up baby.  For two days only, everything on the website is 45% off!  Yes, I did say everything.  Happy shopping!

she-market.

I'm sure by now you've all heard the sad news about Shade.  Lucky for me, Shade is shipping a truckload of clearanced items to my neck of the woods and they will be up for grabs at a fraction of the regular price. I plan on stocking up.  If you are anywhere near the Tri-Cities in Washington, you should think about coming too.  Go here for more information.

sweet vanilla cinnamon.

I am super-extremely-over-the-top picky when it comes to candles.  And this sweet vanilla cinnamon candle from anthropology makes the cut.  As soon as the weather cools, I am going to take one home with me :)

the essential organizer.

I am sure I have professed my love of organizing before and if I haven't, I will admit to it now.  I love being organized, I love organizing and I love all things pertaining to the realm of organization.  My husband believes I have a disease but really, our house is pretty much clutter free and deep down I know he loves it too.

So now that I am 29 weeks pregnant {hold cow} you can better believe the nesting has set in.  BIG time.  Besides getting my house in order, which is still not even close to my satisfaction, I've been searching for the perfect baby book/organizer.  I want something that is practical and can still house important milestones and achievements that come along with baby's first year of life.

Time for you to meet The Essential Baby Organizer : Birth to One Year.
Here is what it includes.  Get ready, it's a lot packed into the perfect size keepsake.

"Includes: Week-at-a-glance feeding, sleeping, and diapering charts * Baby well-check records
Photo pages * Soothing techniques * Sleep guidelines * Developmental milestone chart
Breastfeeding information * Suggested infant feeding guide from Earth’s Best Interview questions for babysitters First-aid guidelines from the American Red Cross Convenient journal pages
* Helpful resources * Pocket for paperwork or keepsakes * and much more"

See, I told you.  A lot.  It is simple enough where I will actually use it.  Write in it.  Record in it.  The set up makes it easy and hassle free to jot down a few notes and memories without taking up a lot of time.  I love the fact that I can record the feedings, doctor appointments and little bits of memories I don't want to have fade.  I am super excited to put pen to the paper once Nicholas arrives.  We can't wait for him to join our little family!

ps.  They also carry The Essential Pregnancy Organizer : 40 weeks +

paige lauren baby.

I was unfamiliar with Paige Lauren until last week when a dear friend showed me the treats she purchased for her new little babe.  The fabric is the softest I've ever felt.  Seriously, smooth as butter.  Just like baby clothes are supposed to be.

helpful hints + how to: preparing for school.

Summer is quickly ending in my neck of the woods, friends.  In twenty short days  I will be back to the days of packing lunches, chauffeuring and soccer practice.  Along with piano, violin and chess club.  The first few weeks of school can be a transition for us mothers as much as it is for our children.  In fact, I think maybe more so.  My children seem to be numbed by their excitement while organization is really the only thing that gets me through.
Over the past several years I've learned a few things that have helped my family transition back to school.  Here are the things that first came to mind:

School Supply Shopping:  Do this as early as possible.  I know it's hard to think "back to school" in July but as soon as the stores start displaying supplies, start picking them up.  It's much easier getting everything in one place early.  Trust me.  I've had to hunt my way through four big box stores searching for a 1 1/2" binder in years past.  Learn from my mistake.

Clothes: Organize your children's clothes before you start hitting the sales.  I was happy to discover (while going through my boys' wardrobes this past weekend) two brand new pairs of jeans we'd bought for my 5 year old at the end of last year.  They are in tip top shape and still fit!  Going through everything gives me a chance to donate, toss and take inventory of things they really need.

Schedule:  I know it may seem early to some, but I begin getting my family back into our regular routines two weeks before the first day of school.  This means we start getting the children to bed at 7:30.  (The older children read in bed until 8:30 or so.)  Helping their little bodies transition into our school time schedule at a gradual pace is much easier than declaring "lights out!" at 7:30 the night before the first day.  Their internal clocks won't like you very much if you take that route.

{russell + hazel have lovely binders to keep you organized}

Calendar:  My children take the summer off from all lessons and sports.  Now is the time I start putting together our family calendar.  Synchronizing instrument practices and sport practices can be tricky when you have 5 children so the earlier I begin, the better.  I also try to get my hands on a school calendar so I can plan for school functions, no-school days and of course, back to school night.

Feast:  A family tradition.  The Sunday before the first day of school my husband and I hold a "Back to School Feast" for our children.  Basically, this is a special dinner to commemorate the beginning of a new year inspired by sweet Nie.  We introduce a new family theme, talk about their excitement or any anxieties they may be having, drink sparkling cider and enjoy one last summertime hurrah.  It's a lovely family night, you can read about our feast from last year here.

What back to school tips do you have?
