Dallas Zoo! (or how I stay in shape).

Tuesday I loaded up all three boys in the mini and headed to the Dallas Zoo, where we would be meeting my older sister and her two boys.  This is the second summer in a row that we decided to plan a zoo trip.  Texas summers are beastly so it makes absolutely no sense to trudge through the zoo, dripping my body weight in sweat.  But I'm an awesome mom and so I threw caution to the wind!

I am sure I resembled a pack mule of sorts.  I refused to buy any food there (besides cotton candy) because it is so darn expensive and my boys would literally nibble at it and be done.  A waste!  A total waste!  And so I had my stroller (with a jump seat attached), a small cooler, a tote bag, and some other crap (that was completely necessary).

We were able to view the lions and cheetahs during the predator encounters, which basically means we got to see the trainers feed them and show them off.  Those big cats were ah-mah-zing!  Nicholas was completely spell-bound by the kitties.  In addition to that coolness, the safari cafe has a glass window wall that looks out over the lions habitat.  The lions tend to meander their way to the glass and lay smooshed up against it because it is cool to the touch.  The boys munched on their sammies face to face with the hairy beasts!

By the end (five hours later) every bit of my body was exhausted.  The trek back to the mini just about did me in.  Nicholas my strapped to my back and I pushed (uphill) my two older boys.  The stroller most likely weighed in the range of ONE HUNDRED FREAKIN' POUNDS!  I received a few looks.  No worries, I made it to the car —barely.

P.S. the gators had jungle fever!
P.P.S nic liked to spray himself in the face with his squirt bottle.
P.P.P.S do you have a cool local zoo?
