home school | bear books.
Two weeks until we begin friends! Two weeks! I can not find the words to clue you in on how excited I am starting to feel. It almost seems unreal.
I started this journey at the beginning of the year. It was a faraway thought that sparked an interest, which grew and grew and grew into something so much more than I ever imagined. First off, I feel very blessed to have this opportunity to stay home with my boys. I'm a lucky mama! My husband is 100% behind me and boosts my confidence when I get nervous.
I've been pouring over all the books I purchased and have started planning out the first few weeks. I've decided to include an author study each month in our school schedule. We love books and we love to read and so it seems fitting to study a different author each month. First up is Karma Wilson, who is the author of some of our all time favorite bear books!
Bear Feels Scared
Bear Stays Up
Bear Snores On
Bears New Friend
Bear Wants More
Bears Loose Tooth
Bear Says Thanks
Bear Feels Sick
I combed the internet for fun activities and worksheets to go along with each book and printed off a few bits of facts and info about the author. I filed it all away in the school room and am anxiously awaiting September 4.
p.s. sorry for all the home schooling posts. my life is consumed with getting ready for school to begin and fortunately or unfortunately (for you), it will show up in my blog posts. thanks for taking this journey with me :)
p.p.s. for those of you who might be interested I bought a simple lesson plan book to jot down my ideas for each day. (i have a long time standing love for all things Mary Englebreit.)
